THE CHAPEL AND THE SACRISTIES

The Treasure of San Gennaro developped around two extraordinary relics: the Saint's head and his blood. The head is kept in the reliquary bust exhibited in the Chapel, while the blood is kept in the safety box walled behind the altar. An extraordinary collection of obiects has been created around these two relics over the centuries, made in gold, silver, bronze, pearls and precious stones. The Chapel and the Sacristies are also among the most important monuments of the Neapolitan Baroque!

THE TREASURE OF SAN GENNARO

The Treasure of San Gennaro narrates the roots of Naples, its millenary civilization, its ancient popular culture and the devotion to its Patron Saint. The Treasure, in addition to the relics, houses a priceless heritage of holy objects in gold, silver, bronze and precious stones. Over the centuries, these riches have been donated to San Gennaro by the members of the Deputation of the Royal Chapel of the Treasure of San Gennaro, by the Neapolitans and foreign kings who reigned or came to visit Naples, by popes and people.
